Bus-library

Objectives :
Set up since January 2019, the library bus runs through the streets of the most disadvantaged neighborhoods of Jaïpur "shantytowns" offering children the opportunity to escape through reading.

The traveling bus is the solution for providing the basic services of a library to those who do not have access.

The goal is to introduce a library service in unserved areas.
Since its creation in three months (January, February, March), 329 children have used the book borrowing services offered to them.

activities:

- stop "bad touch"
The objectives of these assignments are to identify a "good touch" or "bad touch", the precautions to take, what to do in case of suspicion, what feelings can emerge in case of "bad touch" and how to manage them.

- conservation of wildlife
The children attend presentations on fauna and flora, to animate and sharpen their curiosity through the photos. They learn the importance of biodiversity and especially the importance of the tiger in its ecosystem.
The presentations that are proposed to them lead to very interesting discussions where they can express themselves and speak in front of everyone in order to gain self-confidence.

- right to education
The library bus addresses the subject of the fundamental right of the child to education.
- health and hygiene
Children in these communities suffer from a lack of hygiene that has a direct impact on their health. Demonstrations on basic hygiene are provided in the form of small films but also by practical cases. These sessions include, for example, handwashing techniques, understanding the rules of water use, and sanitary cleaning.

- say no to bad habits
Children are influenced by some of the parents' bad habits, although with very limited means, some spend their money mostly on tobacco, alcohol and other substances. The educator emphasizes that these are not only harmful for their health but also have a bad influence on their economic status.

- film screening
Watching a movie can spark more interest in a subject and appear as a break between different activities.
A film is screened by month with themes such as: education, caste and self-confidence issues.

- reading newspapers
Reading newspapers is a good habit that can convey the meaning of educational values. This allows them to learn about politics, the economy, entertainment, sports, business, industry, trade ... and thus make them feel part of the country.
In addition to enriching their knowledge, they enrich their vocabulary.

- basic education
Basic education courses include reading, writing and the English and Hindi alphabet.
Children are divided into level groups based on a pre-test.
